A rich and wealthy couple, Shankarlal and Parvati (Sanjeev Kumar & Raakhee) are appalled at the problems of the world, especially in households, so they decide to try and make things right - one household at a time. They first go the household of alcoholic Rajesh (Rakesh Roshan); his domineering mom (Lalita Pawar); and uneducated wife, Veena (Deepti Naval). Their second task takes them to the household of Vishwanath Gupta(A.K. Hangal); his son, Madhu (Amol Palekar) who has taken to drinking; and his attractive, outgoing, and wealthy wife, Aruna (Sarika). The couple go to work on these families to turn them around and improve and better their relations with each other.

Deepali is the only daughter of a wealthy but deceased industrialist, Lakhanpal. While on a holiday in Northern India, she meets with and gets friendly with Pritam. Unknown to her, Pritam has fallen head over heels in love with her, and wants to marry her. After Deepali returns home, Pritam follows her, meets with her maternal uncle, Choudhary, and creates a very good impression of himself. As a result, Choudhary is convinced that Pritam will make a good husband for Deepali. When Deepali finds out, she is enraged, as she has seen Pritam only as a friend, and her true love is another eligible young man by the name of Ajit, who Deepali has decided to make her life-partner, regardless of any and all consequences.

'Shrimati' is the story of a middle class, conservative housewife, who falls prey to society's glitz and glamour and in the bargain, loses her own identity. In today's malevolent world, where the outer appearance means everything, this middle-aged lady falls victim to the clichéd problem of overall personality and outward appearance that irks all the minds - from teenagers to adults and beyond. She becomes obsessed and, in the process,, almost loses her mind and identity till the sudden realization that - irrespective of the way people think and the way the world goes - one should never forget the soul that dwells within. For it is not about the length or texture of your hair or how perfect your bumps are, but about the kind of person you are and the number of people who love you solely for your nature. She finally gains confidence and self-respect in her own skin and gets ready to take on the world with new vigor and a new "her".

The small Vijaykumar lives with his sick and widowed father of Mohanlal under poor conditions. As an honest shopkeeper, he deserves the wherewithal to provide himself and his son. This doesn't fit the neighbor and competitor Lalachand at all. One day he hid cocaine in Mohanlals shop and alerted the police. After the police will find it, they want to dissipate Mohanlal who is always honest. But the sick man not coped with this and dies of a heart attack. Sad about the death of his father, Vijay has never forgotten the words of his father and grew up at the doctor of his father to be an honest man. After graduating college, he finds a job in the advertising Department of the rich Champalal and his daughter, Geeta, who is responsible for this Department. Also, he meets on Kishore, Lalachands son, who could not stand Vijay during common school. While Vijay and Kishore fight Geetas heart, Lalachand wants to increase his fortune. He makes the ignorant Champalal his investor and manufactures ungeteste skin creams and fake painkillers. Want to impress Geeta with fast success, Kishore the cream market, without having to wait for the test reports. However, already the first customers come with their complaints. Also, the editor of a local newspaper, Moni Chatterjee, is present and interviewed Vijay. This confirms that the cream was already introduced before waiting for the test report in the market. After the article in the newspaper and this represents company a bad publicity for Champalal, Vijay is made by him of speech. Because Vijay is accused of having told the truth, Vijay quits his job, since this would otherwise breaches against his principles. Much to the annoyance of Geeta, who is already in love with the honest man. Soon, Vijay finds a job at Moni Chatterjee, who was impressed by his honesty. Due to his sincere reports, Vijay is very popular so that turns a helpless blind man to him someday. He maintain his child had died as a result of a painkiller. Vijay is the thing on the ground. His track ultimately leads him to Lalachand, threatening with death, if ever an article about the toxic pain killers should appear. But Vijay felt afraid of the truth and gets into some turbulence. Finally the truth prevails and Lalachand is discharged while Champalal apologizes Vijay. Also Geeta practitioner love finds a Happy ending
